The eighteen miles of the final day of the Vierdaagse was less of a struggle than I thought, though my Aunt and Uncle, who had walked the previous four days, were rather more tired. I am planning to do all four days next year with min Laererinde- 40km per day for four days.

The time of 55km days is long gone- my grandfather walked this masochist's version the last time it was staged in 1967.
